Good memories

Created by June one year ago

I first met Peter in 1994, when as a 'just qualified' counsellor I and my husband John moved for a short time to Norwich, he to do a post-graduate degree at UEA and I to find a way of practicing my new qualifications!  Before long I heard of the Matthew Project and after being interviewed by Peter found myself working there. Drug abuse was a very unfamiliar field, and I was definitely on a steep learning curve! The team at the Project was busy, but very welcoming and helpful. Peter himself, apart from also being busy, was consistently encouraging, supportive, patient and informative. He agreed to be my counselling supervisor and I learnt a great deal from him before John and I were posted to a very different place, - Nigeria!

My memories of Peter are fond ones. He was humble and generous in his approach, and a great role model. In later years we enjoyed hearing from him and Margaret, and occasionally meeting up. He leaves a big gap behind him.
